Troglodyte Village of Rochemenier

The Rochemenier troglodyte village is located in a plain. It has been open to the public since 1967 and visitors can tour:

-Two ancient farms dug in the rock where hundreds of tools and pieces of furniture have been kept.
-A farmyard with old poultry species
-An underground chapel
-A modernised troglodyte house

With a total of 20 rooms on one hectare of land, the Rochemenier village is the most complete troglodyte village in the Loire Valley.

The site was open in 1967 by the Louresse municipality. It is listed in all national visitors guides.

From the 1st of april to the 31st of october : open everyday from 9.30 am to 7 pm. November, February and March : open Saturday, Sunday and local public holidays from 2 pm to 6 pm. December and January : closed.
