A DIFFERENT KIND OF ZOO

The zoo of Doué is located in the Loire Valley only 15 kilometres from Saumur and is unique in Europe thanks to its remarkable troglodyte site.
The zoo has a labyrinth of caves, gigantic cathedral vaults over 10 metres high, underground galleries over 100 metres long, and waterfalls. Visitors find themselves in a very unusual place, in a misty tropical atmosphere with over 500 animals which are for the most part endangered species

The zoo was created in 1961 and its director is Mr. Pierre GAY. The zoo is listed in the Guide du Routard, the Michelin guides (both green and red guides), the Guide National des Parcs (Larivière Edition), Le Petit Fûté.
