The oriental park was laid out by Alexandre Marcel from 1899 to 1910 and is the biggest Japanese garden in Europe. It is situated at Maulevrier, near Cholet (on the main route from the chateaux of the Loire and the Atlantic beaches). This garden is unique of its kind by the extraordinary richness of its vegetation, its Asian architectural setting (Khmer and Japanese), its design and its symbolism.
Laid out between 1899 and 1910 by a Parisian architect with a passion for the Far East, the park was abandoned between 1940 and 1980. It has been completely restored since 1980 and is considered today one of the biggest Japanese gardens in Europe. Weekly closing
