The historical link with England since the Plantagenêt Kings has developed an overseas trade culture for its white and rosé wines in Europe but also in Japan and in North America. With 29 Appellations d’Origine Contrôlée (A.O.C.) the vineyards of Anjou and Saumur offer the widest choice of wines within the Loire Valley area, both in colours and tastes: dry white wines or sweet white wines, dry or smooth rosés, reds and fine sparkling wines. Going from Montsoreau to Ingrandes-sur-Loire, through Saumur and Angers, 20,000 hectares of vineyards spread over this region, planted in Schist or Tuffs soils and situated on slopes or hill tops bordering the Loire river and its neighbouring rivers tributaries. Its selected varieties, well adapted to the microclimates linked in particular to the “Douceur Angevine” are predominantly the Chenin Blanc for the white wines and the Cabernet Franc for the red and rosé winesBefore discovering the “Route Touristique des Vins” (the Vineyards Tourist Road) and visiting the Cellars, come and get some information at the Maison du Vin to taste a selection of AOC wines and gather some documentation or advice.
